Fall of 2024 Wildfires
During October and November of 2024, New Jersey saw an unusually high number of wildfires during an extended period of drought. Company 1 responded to two brush fires in town on October 18 and October 21. Company 1 also responded mutual aid to two other large wildfires in Morris County and Passaic County. On November 2, Engine 1-4 deployed to Rockaway Township to assist with structure protection at the Craigmeur Lookout Fire. The Craigmeur fire burned 202 acres of land and threatened 16 structures, 8 of which needed to be evacuated. On November 9, Engine 1-4 deployed to Pompton Lakes to assist with structure protection at the Cannonball 3 Wildfire. The Cannonball 3 fire burned 181 acres of land and threatened 55 structures.
